The Sisters of Mary School-Boystown, Inc. launched a fun run dubbed “Dagan sa Paglaum” as part of its Guidance Month celebration on March 16 at the school grounds, bringing together faculty members, sisters, and non-teaching personnel (NTPs).
The event featured three race categories—3K, 5K, and 8K—allowing participants to choose distances suited to their capacity and fitness levels.
Prior to the run, participants engaged in a Zumba warm-up session to prepare physically for the activity.
The program formally began with an opening prayer led by Rolwen Reyes, GCC Associate Coordinator of the Guidance Office, who also provided instructions and reminders to the runners.
Reflecting on her experience, Social Science teacher Glenda Cañares shared what kept her motivated throughout the run.
“What motivated me to keep going was that once I finished the first round, I had to complete it because I had already started,” she said.
“It’s like eating a cake—one bite at a time, and you’ll eventually finish it.”
The activity aimed to promote physical wellness, perseverance, and a sense of community among the school’s personnel in line with the goals of the Guidance Month celebration.
