June 2025 - Trainees at the Sisters of Mary Vocational Training Center in Kiluvya are also learning about farming, which they practice alongside their vocational training by growing vegetables that help support the school's daily food supply.

The trainees at the center are out-of-school youth from various regions of Tanzania. Many were unable to continue formal education due to financial or personal difficulties. They enrolled in the six-month vocational training program to learn practical skills and receive certification. The training courses include such as design, sewing, and cloth technology, electrical and solar installations, food production, and salon. In addition to their workshop learning, the trainees also take part in farming activities. Each day, they help maintain the school's vegetable garden located on the campus. The garden began as part of life skills formation outside their technical training. Recently, the trainees successfully harvested vegetables such as spinach, sweet potato leaves, and even some fruits like pomegranate. These are used in the school kitchen, helping supplement the food supply for the whole center. The activity promotes responsibility, cooperation, and appreciation for manual work. Through farming, trainees also learn about sustainability and food self-reliance.

The school aims to provide holistic training that prepares youth not only for work but for life. Trainees expressed pride in contributing to both their learning and daily living through these efforts.
