SMS History | The Sisters of Mary Schools (SMS) were founded as part of the mission of the Religious Congregation of the Sisters of Mary, established by Venerable Aloysius Schwartz on August 15, 1964, in Busan, South Korea. The primary goal of these schools is to provide free, high-quality education to children from impoverished families. The initiative expanded to the Philippines in 1985, where the Sisters of Mary established four schools: Biga Girlstown, Adlas Boystown, Talisay Girlstown, and Minglanilla Boystown. These institutions, known as Boystowns and Girlstowns, function as boarding schools that offer not only education but also comprehensive care, including nutrition, lodging, and medical services, all at no cost to the students. |
