On August 18, 1997, the Sisters of Mary expanded its mission to Guatemala through the invitation of President Alvaro Arzu and Archbishop Prospero Penados. On March 25, 1998, the Girlstown was opened in Guatemala City, providing support and education to girls in need. On March 23, 2001, the Boystown in Guatemala City opened, extending similar support to boys. On June 23, 2008, a Day Care Center was established in Nimajuyu, Guatemala City, to further assist young children. Currently, Zona 13 Girlstown, Day Care Center, Medical Clinic, and Zona 6 Boystown are taking care of 1,942 students.
