On November 21, 2012, the Sisters of Mary opened the Villa de Las Niñas, a Girlstown in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, aimed at supporting and educating girls in need. This initiative marked a significant step in their mission to uplift vulnerable communities. Following this success, the Sisters established the Boystown in Amarateca on April 27, 2017, extending similar support and resources to boys.
These establishments are integral to the Sisters’ broader mission of enhancing the well-being and opportunities for disadvantaged children throughout Honduras. Today, the Tegucigalpa Girlstown and Amarateca Boystown collectively care for 1,483 students, underscoring the Sisters’ unwavering commitment to transforming the lives of youth in the region.
