The Sisters of Mary School Girlstown-Talisay, in collaboration with Rotary International and its partners, marked the Handover Ceremony at the SMS campus on Monday morning, February 10,2025.
The Rotary Foundation, along with - the Fukushima South Rotary Club and the Rotary Club of Cebu - provided equipment and facilities for three additional technical vocational courses: Contact Center Servicing NC2, Elderly Care NC2, and Computer Programming NC3. Demonstrating their commitment to supporting the schools educational needs, they took part in the ribbon-cutting ceremony to launch the new student workshops, alongside the Handover Ceremony and the project contract signing.
Mr. Shigehiro Onda, President of the Rotary Club of Cebu, highlighted the reason behind their support for the project in his speech, emphasizing the student's strong performance and proficiency in their tasks. In an interview, he expressed his hope that the newly launched courses would lead to higher employment and success rates, equipping students with better opportunities in the workforce.
On the other hand, Sr. Maria Chelo S. Marikit, SM stated, "We are gathering not just because of ribbon or signing of this relation, but [to celebrate] the spirit of generosity, service, and international friendship that bind us all together." She also emphasize that these contributions greatly support students in honoring their skills in helping them achieve their dreams. Additionally, she expressed her gratitude to the Rotary Foundation for sponsoring the school's new courses in its Technical Vocational Program for the trust it bestows in the institution.
Currently, everyone is looking forward in achieving the mission of the school that will help poor youths reach success, while also encapsulating the skills and education given by the donors to improve the condition of employment in the country.
The ceremony ended with a collective dance by the students in the gymnasium that showed a warm and grateful gesture of the school for their support of the new workshops.
