“Being a leader is not to control, but to guide.”
This was emphasized by Josh Russel Omandam, Vice President of the Supreme Secondary Learners Government (SSLG), during his opening remarks at the 3rd Student LeadCon.
Student leaders from various clubs and organizations gathered for the leadership conference held at the Audio-Visual Room of the Sisters of Mary School-Boystown, Inc. on February 5, in preparation for the upcoming induction and turnover ceremony.
The program began with an opening prayer, followed by a roll call of club leaders grouped by clusters.
Omandam then delivered his message, highlighting that leadership goes beyond authority. He stressed that a true leader’s goal is to uplift, support, and guide members toward becoming the best versions of themselves.
Following his remarks, SSLG President Lysander Casas conducted an orientation on the roles and responsibilities of club leaders.
“Leadership is not about being above others; it’s about lifting others up,” Casas said as he concluded his discussion.
Ms. Mary Jane Marzon, the School Activity Coordinator, then discussed the guidelines and mechanics for creating and revising club constitutions and bylaws, as well as designing logos aligned with the development of each club and its members.
