PASAY CITY — The International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction (IDDRR) 2025 was celebrated on October 13, 2025, at the SM Mall of Asia Music Hall, Pasay City. Organized by Arise Philippines, the whole-day event carried the theme “Fund Resilience, Not Disaster,” emphasizing the importance of preparedness and proactive investment in disaster risk reduction.

The school actively participated in the event by sending a delegation composed of 12 students, two teachers, and two sisters. Participants engaged in a series of seminars, booth tours, and interactive games designed to deepen awareness and understanding of disaster preparedness and resilience.

The program formally opened with a press conference, followed by the opening ceremony. Leaders from various private and government sectors delivered inspiring messages, underscoring the shared responsibility of building disaster-resilient communities. Dr. Joseph Bacareza, Executive Director of Arise Philippines, provided an overview of the event and highlighted the crucial role of community readiness in mitigating the impact of disasters.

Throughout the day, resource speakers from the Office of Civil Defense, the UN Resident Coordinator’s Office, disaster risk reduction and management (DRRM) specialists, the Department of Health, and the Department of the Interior and Local Government shared valuable insights and best practices. Students had the opportunity to visit information booths, explore innovative approaches, and participate in hands-on activities that reinforced key concepts in disaster risk reduction.

The celebration served as an eye-opener for participants, reinforcing the message that investing in resilience and preparedness is more effective than merely responding to disasters. The experience strengthened the school’s commitment to promoting awareness, responsibility, and proactive action toward building safer and more resilient communities.
